Curly hair tips.....

First off curly hair can be very frustrating if you don't know how to work with it. So I'm here to tell some of you curly haired girls who may already know, don't know, or know some of what I'll be sharing tipe for curly hair! :)
Oh,and you might see me repeat myself,so just ignore that. lol,I do that all the time.

  1.   Never brush your hair....

Seriously even when your hair is wet do not brush it. I will comb my fingers through my hair when I'm in the shower or when I'm applying hair gel, leave in conditioner..ect.. right after I get out of the shower. So brushing your hair is a no no.

    2.  What about frizz and moisture?

Let's start with frizz...some things that cause frizz does have to do with lack of moisture.

Okay, every girl wants to know how to get rid of frizz. You can't... but you can keep it somewhat under control.

-Showers,Taking cold showers, this limits frizz, cause the warm or hot water makes any type of hair frizz.

- No shampoo....this causes my hair to get frizzy and puffy. But of course you have to shampoo sometime,so do it maybe once every 2-3 weeks, when you have nothing planned for that day just take a nice shower and use that shampoo to scrub your scalp clean.
(note I do know that Olivia over at Of Horsefeathers uses shampoo, but I would suggest if you must use high moisturizing shampoo.)

- No alcohol ingredient products...this includes hairspray, alcohol really dries your hair out,so make sure you check ALL products for alcohol before usage.

- Blow drying... this isn't a good idea unless you have a diffuser, cause your hair will probably go every where, get sperated, frizzy, etc.

- Water.... lol,yes water drink lots of it. Lots of water keeps your hair less prone to frizz and dry out. Oh,yeah, it's good for your skin and so much more, make sure you drink at least 8 cups a day.

3. What about after I get out of the shower? Cold Shower Pictures, Images and Photos

After getting out of the shower,do not get a towel and try to rub your hair with a towel (it will cause it to seperate and frizz.) instead let it air dry or if your in a rush blow dry with a diffuser only. But we before you start drying it,you need some moisture.

Now I've been recently using this brand called Garnier Fructis and I've liked it. The product I was using was  called 'curl sculpting' or something like that. I've been out of it actually and haven't been to a store,so I've been using like a very little amount of gel (gel makes your crunchy and nobody likes crunchy hair) and leave in conditioner has been working very well. Just make sure it is keeping your hair moist and not drying it out.

I usually buy my hair products from Walmart, cause we like never go to Sally's...just in case anybody was wondering.♥

-When applying your hair product,I will comb it with my fingers through my hair and then scrunch it. Before I apply my products I usually try to get the water out of my hair,so I'll grab it all and put it all in my hand, squeeze and move my hand all the way down to the bottom of my hair. You'll still have some water in you hair, but not as much as before.

Now for a book and site recommendation!

The BEST book ever is called : Curly Girl, I got it from the library, I'm sure you all could to,but it is sooo helpful.Thats where alot of my help came from.

Now website;

Got Curl?
Got Curl? Has some great recipes and tips as well I highly recommend there site.

I want to copy and paste this list from their site (which I think if I remember right is from the curly girl book.)
The Basic Steps of Curly Care

1.Rinse: Step under the “waterfall” of your shower and rinse your curls well (but don’t touch them!) with warm water (hot water strips the natural oils that protect your hair). If the water pressure is high or your curls are especially fragile, use your fingers to shield your curls from the intensity of the water.

2.Cleanse: Using your fingertips and a bit of botanical conditioner or sulfate-free cleanser, gently rub your entire scalp with your finger tips (not your finger nails). Rinse well. (This step may not be necessary every day, especially after you’ve adjusted to the curly girl routine–some curly girls only cleanse once every week or so, and then with a brown sugar scrub.)

3.Condition: Gently but generously distribute botanical conditioner evenly through your curls. You’ll learn how much your hair needs, depending on the weather and climate. It should feel like wet seaweed. If you’re prone to frizz, make sure to apply an extra dose of conditioner to the canopy.

4.Rinse: If you’re a Wavy Girl, gently rinse your curls with cool water. Botticelli and Corkscrew Curly Girls should only rinse (if at all) by splashing a few handfuls of water on their hair to ensure proper hydration. (Using cool water helps seal the hair shaft.)

5.Scrunch: Use a paper towel, an old t-shirt, a microfiber towel, or Curl Cloth (never a terry cloth towel) to “scrunch-dry” your curls, gently scrunching towards your head.

7.Style: Use clips to arrange and style your curls, twisting any last curls into place. Then don’t touch your hair while it dries! (Use a diffuser on the coolest, lowest setting if you must speed the process. Or, crank up the heat in your car if you have a drive ahead of you.)

8.Release: Remove any clips, bend over, and gently shake your dried curls at the roots to give them more volume, if you like. (For more defined curls, skip this step.)

9.Celebrate: Enjoy your soft, springy, natural curls!

Some things I don't agree with like lots of gel...uh,no! It's not bad,but makes your hair yuck....

But what did you think of this post?? Cause if alot of people like it I think I'm going to do a beauty post with just like tips for any type of hair straight or curly?!
