Splash of Summer Blog Party....

     Hey,everyone hop on over to Bramblewood Fashion,they and  Virtuous girlhood are having a blog party with awesome prizes.










1. What word are you totally loving at the moment? I like phrases more then words,but probably, 'Rejuvinated' right now is my favorite.

2. Any tv shows/movies you are excited for this fall? Hahaha,I don't know whats coming out. : /

3. Anything that symbolizes something to you? A Cross,celtic heart, and a green ribbon (for celiac awarness.) symbolize who I am.

4. Two favorite songs at the moment? Oh,gosh,these questions shouldn't be so hard for me to answer.
  A irish jig mixed with 'Jesus loves me' on a cd we have,and 'Shooting Stars' by Owl City that I heard the other day,I generally don't listen to Owl city,but it stuck to my brain.....the part of my brain that like to remind you of everything.

5. If there was suddenly a world taker over by an evil dictator what would you do? Hmmm...what I would do and want to do are different,but what I would want to do is help smuggle people out to someplace safe. Like Corrie Ten Boom did.

6. What is your favorite summer activity? Taking long walks in the back and photoshoots.

7. What has been your favorite summer vacation? My trip to Flordia last year or my trip to Williamsburg. I can't choose.

8. If you received an unlimited shopping spree to any store, what store would it be for? Hmmmm....I don't go shopping to much,but Target or Kohls I guess.

9. What is your favorite summertime food? Watermelon, Hamburgers,anything fruit.

10. What is your favorite summertime movie? I don't really have one,but something with Haley Mills in it. We usually watch favorites in the winter when its nasty outside.

The Melanoma Diaries

Noun: A tumor of melanin-forming cells, typically a malignant tumor associated with skin cancer.

                                My sister-in-love Karen, was diagnosed with melanoma this summer.
I know its going to be tough for her,her family and our family as well,but my sister-in-love is a fighter,is always positive and totes along a bag full of humor where ever she goes. :) Shes also sympathetic which is why she is giving her cancer a small blog diary before she kicks it to kingdom come where there is a acid pit that will make it disappear.

               With that being said I just thought I do a post for my awesome sister-in-law love saying,

                   Karen,I love you,I'm praying for you and God loves you with a passion that we can't even begin to understand,Go beat Melanoma.

Disney Princesses if every girl had the opportunity to be a Disney princess, 99.9% of them would be one, I guarantee.But if you haven't noticed the Disney princesses are getting shall I say worse and setting a bad example. Lets use the newer disney princess as an example.                                         Rapunzel from "Tangled."   

As much as I myself like this funny, musical you have to admit its sending a bad message to girls.

A young girl rebellious against who she thinks is her mother (you know its not her mother,but as far as Rapunzel knows she is),the Bible says to obey our parents (Ephisians 6:1) God ordained their authority unless they are asking you to go against God then you should obey them no matter how ridiculously protective they seem. She disobeys cause she has a dream a desire that leads her to far. Rapunzel runs off with a wanted criminal Flinn,she trusts him and starts to open her heart up to him. What kind of message is that sending to girls,bad guys/jerks can be changed by your love for them when you two fall in love.

The fact that everything works out,Flinn doesn't die from her kidnapper because pretty much of Rapunzel's love for him her kidnapper dies and she reunites with her real parents.

And if you notice its kinda making fun of stay at home daughters too.

Some people think of stay at home daughters parents are over reacting to the worlds danger and staying at home cooking, cleaning, learning to be a good homemaker is stupid.

Did anyone feel like that through the film?

Maybe I'm over reacting on that part,but thats something I noted in the movie.

All of them are happy endings right!? That just happen to end with a fair madien and a handsome young man being two love birds that are going to be getting married.

Happy endings are something little girls and even older girls dream of, a happy ending to their sweet, romantic love story,but no one is there to teach them the difference for reality and fiction.

I pray I can raise my future girls if God blesses me with a family with girls that I can raise them to chase after Gods heart, someone who can give them a happy ending and that I may teach them to guard their hearts to save for that one 'prince.' ;)

                                          I also cannot have rice,dairy,and possibly soy.

               When people discover I can't have certain foods the reaction is usually as follows;
               "Oh,my goodness what do you eat,I feel so bad, you can't have like anything."
                     I always grin wide at these exclamations cause I find them so humorous.
"Yes,thank you for stating the obvious."  I'm tempted to say this sometimes,just cause I come from a sarcastic family. I sometimes will tell people on purpose when in line for food at a families get together,just to watch peoples reactions,if I really want to get a reaction I throw in the truth that I can't have dairy or rice (although I cheat on those,and live to regret it every time) and the other times when people say, "You don't want a bun for your hamburger." me: "Noooo."   

The most awkward situation is when you order at a restaurant and ask with a sweet,innocent smile,"Can I have it without the bun?"


           I'm going to answer a few questions that I get asked sometimes and some that I'll ask just from experience about my allergies.

           Isn't it hard? Yes,it is. I'm totally used to not eating gluten which people think is the hardest,but for me not eating dairy and rice is the hardest,in fact I have intense pain cause I have very poor choices,what can I say, I really LOVE ice cream and rice is like in all gluten free products.

    What can you eat?  Celiac disease is I guess you could say 'popular',so now there are many products and box mixes that you can buy. For cooking from scratch almond flour,rice flour,tapioca flour...etc... are flours you can use. I have to mention an amazing 'certified' gluten free company called 'Udis' they make amazing bread products....so bagels,loafs of bread,etc.... they are very good.  In case your wondering what I meant by 'certifiied' I mean its created in a factory that is made just for gluten free products,so no gluten products are made there. Betty Crocker has box mixes,they may say "Gluten Free" on the front,but they are made in the same factory gluten is,so people who have serious allergies have to be careful when shopping gluten free.


Can I add wheat flour to a gluten free box mix? NO,you cannot, gluten is wheat. We had a friend that is an amazing baker and they had us over,she wanted to make a gluten free dessert for us (shes very sweet like that) but not knowing alot about what gluten is,she added flour to a gluten free cake mix she bought to thicken it a little (I think that's why,its been a while) so when we arrived she asked us if that was okay,is it still gluten free,we hated to tell her,but no it was no longer gluten free and we couldn't eat it.


      What is one little,but important thing people don't think about? Separate spatulas. Once we went to a friends house and we brought dessert,pies actually one of them were gluten free. One of the girls wanted to try the gluten free one just to see what it was like that problem was she took the spatula from the other pie and stuck it into the gluten free pie. I cringed as the wheat pie covered spatula crumbs wedged into the gluten free pie. So that is a small example that most people wouldn't even think twice about.


               So what happens to you and celiacs when they eat that stuff anyway? Well,numerous things happen to me,the reactions are different for different people. For me its kind of complicated,but if you want to get to the core,if I continued eating gluten,dairy.and rice,after loads of pain and bloating I'd get cancer. Now not everyone gets cancer, some just get so sick they'ld die. Someone at my church has her own special food cause that is how allergic she is,no wheat is allowed to enter her house,if it does its eaten on paper plates. My brother reacts by getting sick with tongue sores called ulcers. They are all over his tongue and are like holes in his tongue thus,very tender and he'll get weak in his legs. Those are just some examples of what can happen.


      Don't you get depressed that you're allergic to so much food?
I can get depressed,not because I can't have the cake at a birthday party or the ice cream at a party,but because my body  hasn't been eating right long enough or I accidentally eat, thinking a certain food is perfectly okay and I have a painful reminder later on. But you know what I remember when I was younger and I seriously have no idea how I did it, I was having SO many issues/problems and oh,so much pain cause I wasn't eating right and when I started to try to eat right there wasn't a whole lot out there,we didn't fully understand everything (we knew dairy was part of it I think we actually thought that was the main problem,since we didn't even really know about celiac then.),my mom and I learned just along the way. We started to realize more people and our family members had issues with gluten.

   How do you stay happy,don't you get upset that God made you like this?
                       God has blessed me so much! Trust me if I didn't have so many issues I wouldn't have been able to realize, to an extent how much I really needed God,when it would get tough I was so thankful that God was there to carry me and to talk to. So even though some days I hate what is happening/happened to my body I'm thankful God  chose me for it,I eat healthier my family and I know so much more about healthy eating etc....
      I'm also thankful,cause I see people my age with diabetes,I know thousands of kids have cancer,what if God planned one of those in my life instead of being allergic to foods. If I had diabetes could I daily give myself shots? I ask myself. I couldn't have as much candy as I wanted. If I had cancer I'd  have to do chemo. Could I stand being sick all the time?  
                     So it is easy for my to try to stay happy when I think of what I could have.
                                           I'm thankful for the body God has given me.

goat milk fälschen

fälschen is german for the word Fudge,a very tasty fattening dessert.

A key ingredient to this delightful product is fresh goats milk.

(or you can buy it from the store. ;) )

Just make sure you filter the fresh goats milk too,but if you own a goat I'm sure you know that all ready.

I'm just adding it so I have a caption for the photo instead of saying," this is filtering of goats milk.". ;)

Oh,a very nice tip when making this;

Make sure you chop up your nuts before you start cooking otherwise you'll be trying to hurry while having to stir the cooking fudge and you'll end up with the result in the photo below.

But the quickest fix is apply lots of peroxide,apply a bandaid,then remove if the bleeding has stopped at night, remove before you go to sleep. :) Works every time.....

So in summary if you are accident prone (like myself) or are under 18 (like myself again), parent supervision or assistants is required because cut fingers are no fun.

Since I did a post with some yummy photos of GMF I suppose I should give you the recipe now.

ramblings from raindrops......

Hello, there this is a post of random ramblings and what nots,just so your warned.

I decided to invest some hard earned money into a not 'so' pretty looking more professional looking dslr backpack which is actually part of a investment into my camera because,

 my Toby needs some protection at home and if I go places,plus this backpack can carry a laptop too *grins*,which I'm going to be saving up for (hopefully next year I can get one.)

Since this backpack is on backorder though its going to be a while before I can order this baby.....hmmmm should I name my backpack too?!

Hoping the free shipping offer will still be there by the time I can order it.

Do you ever feel like you wish you were younger cause all you wanted was .50 cents to buy a pack of gum or .99 cents for a random toy you see in a checkout isle?!

Now as a teenager almost ready for college I have a list as long as my arm and all of it $$$.

Summer has been great thus far,very hot though. Our grass has turning brown an is crunching under my feet. *blah* not the best feeling.

We had a quick rain shower last night,which made be smile big.

Whoever wrote the song, 'rain,rain go away come back some other day.' hasn't been to our area these past months!

Ah,life........I'm a very sore girl sitting on the couch with my daddy's laptop. Why?

Sunday afternoon our youth group went to one of the girls house and we set up this tarp thingy down her hill, with hoses at the top for a slip in slide. Oh,so painful when you run a land,the ground is pretty much rock solid (hence the desire for rain),so everyone got bruises and scratches,but it was still very fun! 

We used soooo much soap! We were like dumping it on ourselves and the slide. 

Our last run (we would do what we called a parade and one after another we'ld run and slide down),lol,we emptied a whole container of soap everyone was very sudsy after that.

 The most pain you felt is just the next day {today,actually},I feel sorry for the people in the youth group that have to work today. 0_0

I think the funniest part is people driving by us honking,the random tourist (we live around a amish tourist area,not totally sure it was a tourist,but it makes a good story right?!) parked and took pictures,the shirtless old motorcycle guy riding by yelling "YAY", the other guy in the car that stuck his head out a window yelling"That looks like fun, I wish I could try."

                              Yeah,for this event I wish I brought my camera to take some photos.

                       My sister is making my bridesmaid dress (refused to let me make apparently I'm a horrible sewer when it comes to dresses.....ok,yeah my sister has a point I am.) she is almost done with it,I can't wait. So I thought I decided on the hairstyle I wanted for the wedding,but I think I might change my mind if I can find/learn one that looks better on me and is practical for a curly burnette in the August heat.


       But yeah,so a hot busy summer is going on here in my world with a atv somewhere in the middle.
 And just as a little side note our main computer (the one with all my photos and the one I blog on,yeah.) has a virus and is off limits in the house until we can go and get it fixed,so that means blogging is going to be slowed down alot like very little blogging going to be happening,but that doesn't mean I'm abandoning my blog. ;)

                 I hope you all are having a fantasical summer and have an awesome 4th of July!
       
     For 4th of July were going to a friends house who has a pool and to have our assesments done.
Just for all you non homeschoolers, assesments are when at the end of a school year a teacher looks at your work and signs a paper saying we did our school for our grade etc...
