be still my heart...

5 days ago I went on a trip that touched my heart and left me aching for more..
5 days ago I had no idea what to really expect in all honestly I was ready to hate NYC,I'm just not a city person and I was scared not only of the city, but slightly nervous about serving at a mission I've never done that before.  5 days ago I woke up at 4:30 for a missions trip to New York City at the Bowery Mission.
There is 80 guys living at the Bowery Mission in a program to get their lives together, get an education...etc... I wasn't really expecting to make friends with these guys....or at least to be so sad to leave them.
Louis and I

Mugail and I
(Shout out to you two even though you may not see this, keep with the program even when its tough Jesus is there for you lean on Him.)

My heart aches to see them again. I'm fighting back tears  as I type, all the guys/students,volunteers, and staff there were such a tremendous blessing to me.

The Bowery Mission meet a group of crazy country (some former Amish) Ohioans and we both(Bowery and the our group of 25 people) apparently didn't expect such and impact on both sides. Bowery Mission director and the guys there said we were the best group they've had, never complained always smiling and we would go up to the guys prayer room/evening play room played games with them talked with them watch college basketball with them. The generally don't like Mennonites there cause some of them are so sheltered they don't know how to socialize with the guys there.
We helped serve food to the homeless and the other men there, cleaned, sang and did service.
I also played my violin. It was such a blessing and my heart is overwhelmed.
I wish I could got more photos of the mission, but I was either working or sight seeing in the big apple. So most of my photos are of NYC,but I took over 500 photos so it will take some time to get posts up. ;)

Love you Bowery Mission and a shout out to Louis,Mugail, and Carlos at the mission though you may never see this blog post I want to say I'm praying for you and I pray that you will know God, love God, serve God and never lose sight of the prize.
