PONY FRUSTRATIONS AND A RANDOM POST!!!!!
Okay, I now I haven't posted in a while, but thats because my mom likes to check my punctuation and stuff before I post it on the internet. We've been quite busy, but hopefully it will start slowing down. My new pony hasn't done really anything after he was trained which was about 9 years ago (by the person we bought him from) and we aren't experts in horses at all. My 4H leader who is what I would consinder an expert in horses, came over and said she thinks he will make a great pony! We just need to work with him daily and get him listening to our commands before riding him(which is okay with me since we don't have our reins yet and I need to save up for a saddle that's my size). So, I need to walk him around with a lead rope, make him walk, trot, and stop at my command. I also need to pick his feet or at least lift them daily cause he isn't used to it! Well, here is what he did 2 days after my leader came over lunged him and picked up his feet(with only a little trouble in the beginning then he let her do it). I thought okay maybe he's not as bad or as much trouble as I thought. So I went out to the barn and stayed there for about 40 min. working with my bad pony ( I say that cause I was really frustrated). I was out there trying to clean out his hooves. A simple task right? Wrong! Cause working with him that day gave me another perspective. After about 20 min. he was kind of okay, with me lifting his front hooves,so I started working on his back, and by the way I was always very nervous about horses, and their rear legs. He wouldn't let me do them and he must of thought trying to push me into the wall was a good idea! So I gave him a shove and pushed him over and wouldn't let him. Well, he kind of slipped on the cement floor making some noise as he hit the stall door(yes, I'm silly enough to do it in the stall, but its a huge stall cause the pony, cow, and 7 goats live in it!) My sister was shaving some goats for fair and she didn't appreciate me startling her. ; ) I was really ready to give up,but you are not supposed let him win. So back to work I went. He seemed to be being mean on purpose cause at first I thought he looked nervous, but my sister pointed out he was playing with the rope on the post that he was tied to and seemed to be acting like he was relaxed !! I figured drop the hoof pick and just work on him letting me lift his hooves up. Well, after about 2 or more tries he decides to get nasty and do some side kicks! I'm ashamed to say I was about ready to cry,but I wouldn't let him know that! So my sister who wasn't exactly being helpful by telling me,your not doing it right,do this ( by the way I later found out she was correct, and I was doing it wrong)! She said,do his front hooves again, so I worked on it after a while he let me do them.So I praised him and let him go!! Yes, I did give in,but I was so MAD and ready to cry I really didn't care (yes, I'm a big baby when I get so upset/mad/frustrated.) So my 4H leader came over 2 days later and said he was being pretty bad ( I tried to lift his back hooves to show her what he did and sure enough he tried to kick me). So she showed me how to do it and then let me try. Yup,I was doing it wrong, first I wasn't pushing my shoulder into him and you pick up their feet a certain way! So I got that down...well that was about 2 days ago. I'm going to wait for my dad to get home, so he can hold him and I can pick his feet! I realized doing it in a stall wasn't a good idea since my 4H leader didn't do it in there! I was really frustrated that night, lol, I need to learn to imply those phrases like:
"Cowgirls don't cry"
"Never give up"
Has anyone watched the movie "Wild Hearts can't be Broken"?? Well, I wouldn't mind being able to be as brave as her around horses!
I worked with walking him today. It went pretty well if only the flies weren't so horrible! I would be walking and he pulled real fast one way and kind of jumped on his rear legs, but not very high, lol maybe a foot !! But all in all he did pretty well. I'll work more with him later. I need to work with my goat for fair (lol, she needs quite a bit of work too) well thats all for now!!! = )

I put a line above cause I wrote that out a week ago!
A few days ago we went to my grandpas and went swimming! We went to Hobby Lobby on the way home. In which I wish I had like a $2,000 shopping spree/gift card for that store they had soooo many awesome things that I could totally redo my room with. But anyway they had a bunch of metal signs I found this awesome sign that said:
"$5 for Whining."
I want this one for my room it went something like this:
"Horse people are stable people." or something like that! They had a big selection if I ever did a room theme, I would do a horse and or cowgirl theme !

3 thought(s) to note :
You are definitely a country girl! I wish I was one:/ I hope your pony will start behaving!
lol,me too!!! Well 2 days ago he did perfect then yesterday he was testing me I think, so we'll see how he does today!
Oh, I can SO relate to you on this post! My younger sister just got a 3 year old pony last fall, and she hadn't been worked with hardly at all. Both my horse and her pony have done that at one time or another. Just remember...don't give up, ESPECIALLY when it's hard :)
I'm glad to know that other horse people have the same problems!!
